The lesser adjutant is in the same family as the greater adjutant and does not have the air sac under its neck or the white hair around the neck base as the greater adjutant. The upper part of the body is glossy black, the under stomach is white, and the skin of the head and the neck is yellowish red. It has the hair spreading distantly and the big beak is dull yellow.
Can be found in India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Borneo. In Thailand, it can be found in mangrove swamp forest, swamp forest and fresh water swamp in the Middle and the South.
The food is the carcass, fish, frogs, reptiles, snails, and shrimp.
Lives outdoor near the seashore, pond, swamp, and field. It normally flies high like the vulture and sometimes flies together with the sea hawk
The lesser adjutant started to pair during November to December. It lays 3 to 4 eggs each time. In the breeding season, there will be red spots around the mouth edge.
